This is Nebraska man, Mark Behrends, who this week turned the ripe old age of 110. That’s some achievement!
So what’s the secret to long life? Well, according to Mark, it’s drinking beer every single day. To be more precise, Mr Behrends drinks one can every day at 3pm.
Speaking to Omaha.com, his daughter, Lois said: “He always told everybody the reason he has lived so long is drinking one can of beer, every day at 3pm. He always joked that that was his medicine since he takes very little medicine.”
Mark is officially the third oldest man in the United States, and the oldest in Nebraska. He lived independently until he was 106, and now resides in the Ambassador Health facility.
He even renewed his driving license for five years when he was 106, but his family decided it was best if he gave it up as his reaction time wasn’t too great in his old age.
When asked his advice for a long, happy life, Behrends’ response was short and simple: “Right here,” he said, pointing to his heart.
Brilliant. Now, is it 3pm yet?
