This is the moment hundreds of protestors gathered outside the home of a cancer patient, to help defend him from bailiffs.
Tom Crawford is 63 and lives in Nottinghamshire, in the same house that he has been in for 25 years.
He has been told by Bradford and Bingley building society that he owes £43,000 towards his mortgage, but Mr Crawford claims that he paid off the last of his mortgage back in 2013, and has been locked in a dispute since then, saying that the bank changed his mortgage agreement without consulting him.
Tom is suffering with prostate cancer, and was overwhelmed by the support he received from people all over the country. Hundreds of strangers drove over 260 miles to help stand up to the bailiffs with him.
I won’t let them throw me out of my own house. It’s amazing and extremely heartwarming to see how many people have come to support me.
The eviction didn’t take place due to ‘safety concerns’.
It’s a bit of a weird one, as it is currently his word against theirs, in what seems to be a very complicated matter. I hope that it gets cleared up soon though, and that he regains his health.
I also hope that if I ever ended up in such a situation, so many people would come to stand by me as well.
That isn’t likely though, I’m a tit.
