A kickboxer known as one of the hardest men in the world has been shot dead, while on the operating table following an earlier attempt on his life.
Ukrainian Sergey Lashchenko, 28, was a fighter in K-1, and Superkombat kickboxing championship.
Last week, Lashenko was walking through the Ukranian city of Odessa, when gunmen shot him. His friends managed to drag him to the hospital, where he went in for emergency surgery.
But then, the assassins burst into the operating room, opening fire again. Bullets were flying everywhere, causing terrified staff to hide for their lives behind machinery, while one worker even jumped out of the window.
The medic that treated him said:
He received seven gunshot wounds, including one that entered the carotid artery.
We tried to save his life but there was nothing else that could be done for him.
There is currently no known reason behind the murder, and police are currently looking into finding the culprits.
