The frustrating part of any awards night is that inevitably there are more losers than there are winners, and annoyingly it’s normally the person you want to win who misses out. It is a fact that did not escape host Andy Samberg at this year’s Emmys.

The Lonely Island and former SNL star used a video segment to give a nod to the hordes of unsuccessful nominees for playing their part.

But he did so with a twist.

For anyone who has not watched ‘Mad Men’ the humour may be slightly lost, and if you intend to this is a spoiler alert. You have been warned.

In the finale of the seven series hit, advertising mogul Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, has escaped the rat race. Whilst meditating and contemplating his role in the world a moment of brilliance strikes and the iconic Coke ad of 1971 is born.

Here is Samberg’s take on how he could make the world a better place.

The song applied to certain members of the audience more so than others as Amy Poehler, who plays the hilarious Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation, missed out yet again on the award.

And because the show has finished her performance in the Parks and Rec will never be recognised by the Emmys. She took it in her stride though.

And if you have yet to catch up on the the winners here they are in full:
