We’ve all hated a football player enough to want to flying kick them at some point, haven’t we?
I can think of several players, on several instances, where I would have happily Cantona’d the shit out of them. However, contrary to my mums belief, I do have a little bit of common sense and a tiny shred of dignity… So I’ve never done it. Yet.
But things are a bit different in South America.
The other day a game in Argentina between Boca Juniors and River Plate got interrupted by fans pepper spraying players in the face as they came out for the second half.
In Venezuela, Aquiles Ocanto was being interviewed on live TV after his team Carabobo FC drew 0-0 with Aragua FC, when a fan runs out of nowhere, and flying kicks him in the back.
You can see the reporters face change just before the attack as she see’s it coming but doesn’t have change to warn him.
Carabobo tweeted to say that the player is uninjured, but condemned the fan.
Aquiles Ocanto is well and without any injury. Similarly, we reject such acts and violence in football.”
