We’ve all probably got little secrets we’ve never told our fathers, like nicking some of his beer or coming home from a party late.
However, a new project of anonymous postcards reveals some of the crazy secrets that children have kept hidden from their dads.
Startling confessions include “I fancied the woman you had an affair with”, “I found your gay porn collection” and “The weird smell in your study wasn’t mice. It was me peeing behind your desk”!
The frank admissions made by members of the public are available to read in ‘Book of Dad’ released ahead of Father’s Day on Sunday.
Company directors Jonny Biggins, Jason Bramley and Steve Hanson travelled from London to Glasgow and handed out 3,000 blank “What I never told my Dad” postcards, giving people the chance to share a secret they have always kept from their fathers.
Project co-director Jonny said:
Whether it’s a shocking confession, a heartfelt apology, or just a simple thank you – we all have something that we have never told our dads. We wanted to know what kind of things people would say given the opportunity.
The reaction to the project has been amazing, causing both laughter and tears. Often it’s the things unsaid that scream the loudest, and for some reason this seems especially true when it comes to relationships with dads. Dads by their very nature are difficult to confide in.
The postcard confessions range from the scandalous to the hilarious to the heartfelt, and reveal the stark contrasts in people’s relationships with their fathers.
