A homophobic pastor in Texas is having a bit of a ‘Doh!’ moment, because he vowed to set himself on fire if gay marriage was allowed in the state, which it has been after the Supreme Court’s shock decision that has legalised it across all fifty states.
Rick Scarborough promised to light himself on fire, as part of his fight against gay marriage.
While speaking to a right wing politician on a podcast linked to the group ‘Staying True to America’s National Destiny (STAND)’, Scarborough said:
We are not going to bow, we are not going to bend, and if necessary we will burn.
Somebody needs to pass him a lighter.
The Supreme Court decision means that the 14 states outlawing same sex marriage can no longer enforce their old-fashioned laws.
The move has been supported by Barack Obama who called it a ‘victory for America, saying:
When all Americans are treated as equal, we are all more free.
Well played, America.
Rick… We’re waiting.
