A bartender in Paris has been handed a suspended jail sentence after a man who drank 56 shots in his bar as part of a shot competition died.

Renaud Prudhomme managed to break the record held at the bar for drinking the most shots and left with his friends and daughter, but died the following day.

After Gilles Crepin, 47, was arrested and tried in court, he was found guilty of manslaughter, a ruling that the victim’s family welcomed, but the suspended four month jail term was something that has certainly caused waves given the victim already had underlying medical and alcohol dependency issues.
