A deal has been agreed for convicted rapist Ched Evans to play for Oldham Athletic and as a result, their first official sponsor has pulled out of their sponsorship.

Club sponsors have been told to prepare for the announcement of his signing, which will come either Thursday or Friday.

Club sponsor Verlin Rainwater Solutions has now cut ties with the club as a result and ZenOffice will probably follow after saying they will do the same if Evans signs.

Director of Verlin Rainwater Solutions, Craig Verling said:

We would like to take this opportunity to make clear that we feel that Mr Evans should be able to lead a life without further punishment after serving his sentence, although our feelings remain the same that this should not be within the public domain where his previous behaviour may influence the next generation.

Fair points well made I say. What do you think? Should Ched be allowed to play football (especially at this level) despite serving only half of his sentence?

Evans was jailed in 2012 for 5 years for raping a 19-year-old girl.
