Demi Lovato take a bow.
Now only is the performer doing pretty well in her career, she has also stripped off for a nude photoshoot, all to promote a healthy body image for young people.
Her Vanity Fair shoot wasn’t just a nude one, it was untouched (meaning no airbrushing) and she wore no make-up either.
Lovato has struggled with body image issues in the past, and is now a huge advocate for healthy living, and refusing to conform to the ‘Hollywood ideal’.
She opened up about her eating disorder issues, and battle with depression, saying:
I would have never thought I would have gotten to a place in my life where I could do that.
I learned after working very hard on my spirituality and my soul that you can get to a place where you love the skin that you’re in, and I’m excited to share that with the world.
Given how we’re presented with picture perfect images on magazine covers, it’s a refreshing change for people, especially those who are young and impressionable, and is certainly something we need to see more of.
That, along with Lovato’s openness about her battles with mental health issues make her a pretty decent role model for young people – not to mention a refreshing change from reality TV stars being on magazine covers.
