A doctor from New Mexico has been suspended with immediate effect after he turned up to work drunk then left a patient in labour so he could have sex with another.
The New Mexico Medical Board is now debating whether to revoke Dr. Christopher Driskill’s medical license. Hospital officials also found a “personal cache” of alcohol in the 42-year-old’s office.
Driskill, who (somehow) was just five months away from becoming the president of the New Mexico Medical Society, now faces 11 charges of misconduct.
His suspension notice reads that over a certain period of time, he managed to leave several pregnant women unattended during labour. In most cases he left the hospital entirely.
He is also being accused of numerous sexual encounters with patient he dealt with.
The medical board wrote in his notice:
Your sexual relationships and abuse of alcohol have negatively affected your practice of medicine.Advertisement
