An arrest has finally been made in connection to a North Charleston animal cruelty case that has received national attention.
William Leonard Dodson, 41, was arrested last night (Monday) in the abuse case of Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix, Caitlyn, who was last week found neglected with electrical tape wrapped around her muzzle.
The dog, who is only 15-months-old appeared on someone’s doorstep in North Charleston and was rushed to the close-by Charleston Animal Society where she was treated for her severe injuries.
It was originally thought that Caitlyn’s tongue had to be removed, due to her it becoming trapped between her teeth, losing blood flow in the process – however her amazing recovery has shocked everybody.
CAS Director of Community Engagement, Kay Hyman, said:
We are supportive of the NCPD’s investigation and hope justice will be served in this case.
We are eager for whomever committed this crime to be held accountable and punished to the fullest extent of the law, which continues to be one of the nation’s weakest.
Since she was taken in, Caitlyn has been receiving hyperbaric and cold laser treatment to save damaged tissue in her mouth and has since been showing signs of progress.
Dodson is being charged with ill treatment of animals.
