There were many benefits to the USA legalising marijuana, but there has been one positive outcome that most people probably wouldn’t have expected at first. The Mexican drug cartels are being put out of business, well, when it comes to weed at least.
In 2011, the USA border patrol managed to confiscate pot worth £2.5 million during their marijuana seizures on the border, but in 2014, that had dropped dramatically to £1.9 million, yet legal use of marijuana has risen in the US by a whopping 74% and that figure is expected to double by 2016.
The cartels themselves are obviously being put out of business because of the lack of demand for weed, with the Mexican army even claiming that there has been a drop in marijuana seizures.
Ah well, there are always deadly class A’s…
