The eighth film in the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise is confirmed and fans will be happy to hear that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will reprise his role as Hobbs.
‘Furious 8’ is pencilled in for an April 14, 2017 release, with Vin Diesel already signed on and talks under way for Eva Mendes to return to the fold. Even Dame Helen Mirren has expressed interest in being the movie’s villain (and, let’s face it, that would be amazing).
One thing is certain, Hobbs will be back for Furious 8, as confirmed by Dwayne Johnson at a recent press conference.
Of course. It can’t go on without Hobbs.
Johnson also confirmed the rumours that a Hobbs solo movie is reportedly in the pipeline.
We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.
So although we’ll have to wait two years to see Luke Hobbs back in action, at least it may not be the last we see of The Rock’s entertaining bounty hunter character.
