This bloke was wrongly found guilty of murder and received pardon from the Republic of Ireland. It’s just a shame he was hanged for it 74 years ago.
In 1941, Harry Gleeson found Moll McCarthy in a field, with two shotgun blasts to the face. Unfortunately, he got the blame for the murder, and was found guilty and hanged.
However, the Irish Innocence Project at Dublin’s Griffiths College have uncovered significant evidence, and it turns out that he was innocent. He is the first person to receive posthumous pardon.
Let’s just hope that the next person to get pardoned receives the news a bit sooner.
