A glamorous female teaching assistant has escaped jail, despite admitting she had sex with an underage student.
Caroline Berriman, 30, who worked at the Abraham Moss Community School in north Manchester, started a relationship with the 15-year-old boy last year.
She pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child, and a further count of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust, the Manchester Evening News reports.
She was given a two-year jail sentence, suspended for two years, as well as 250 hours of unpaid community work. She was also ordered to pay the victim a £100 surcharge.
Berriman was given a restraining order prohibiting her from seeing or contacting the victim.
The court heard the teaching assistant engaged in oral and penetrative sex with the student, who was legally not able to consent, as he was not yet 16.
The school said Berriman was suspended as soon as ‘the allegations came to light and no longer works at the school’.
