Fifa have released their latest rankings, and while Germany stay at the top of the pile, Brazil and Belgium have seen their stars rise to fifth (because mickey mouse games matter more to Fifa than World Cup semi-finals) and third respectively.
For those wondering, England are 14th – one ahead of the mighty Costa Rica who caused them so many problems during the World Cup – and ironically, one behind Italy, who may have beaten England, but also fell short of qualification.
England might have Harry Kane, but sadly for the Three Lions, Belgium have Eden Hazard and Brazil have Neymar. Even Spain have Isco – and the reason for Wales’ rise is clear. Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale are their two most talented players and have given Chris Coleman’s men a real chance of making the Euros.
France and Italy have dropped out of the top ten altogether – although France will have something to say come the Euros given they are in their own back yard no matter where Fifa rank them. Switzerland meanwhile are ninth – showing that Fifa rankings, much like Fifa and UEFA, are a pile of sh*t.
