Three teenagers have been arrested after CCTV showed them strolling through a city centre pointing guns at people.
After scaring the public in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, the police were called and came to arrest the group – dispatching an array of armed police officers, a helicopter and dog handling units.
The weapons turned out to be BB guns.
Chief Inspector Mark Smith, from Staffordshire Police, said:
The decision to deploy firearms officers is never taken lightly and when armed officers are deployed they are authorised to use the tactics and weapons they have.
If an individual is believed to be in possession of a firearm we have to take the appropriate action. We cannot take the risk of not sending firearms officers.
After being ordered to the floor, with police dogs in their faces, one of the group reportedly started barking at the police dogs.
Nice one, mate. You massive idiot.
