With today being Star Wars Day (May the 4th) and the new film only seven months away, it was the perfect time for this amazing gesture from Lucasfilm.
In the Star Wars universe, Jedi cannot get married because emotion and personal attachment clouds judgement.
That was a fact which didn’t sit well with 7-year-old Colin Gilpatrick, who wants the option of being both Jedi and married.
Gilpatrick wrote a letter to Star Wars creator George Lucas asking him to change the rule.

The folks at Lucasfilm not only replied to the young fan and sent him some free merchandise, they actually did alter the rule.
Colin’s reaction is priceless!
The full letter reads:
Thank you so much for writing to us with your question. It sounds like the Force is strong with you, and you are showing great wisdom by asking your question. To be a Jedi is to truly know the value of friendship, of compassion, and of loyalty, and these are values important in a marriage. The Sith think inward, only of themselves. When you find someone that you can connect to in a selfless way, then you are on the path of light, and the dark side will not take hold of you. With this goodness in your heart, you can be married.
We enclosed a few gifts that we hope you enjoy. Thank you again for writing.
May the Force Be With You!

The seventh film of the franchise – Star Wars: The Force Awakens – is due to be released on December 18 but we doubt even the new movie will top this amazing moment for the young Star Wars fanatic.
