A man in France called in a fake bomb alert in order to delay his girlfriend’s flight so she didn’t miss it.

Unfortunately for this bloke, his act of love resulted in him being swiftly arrested.

The 33-year-old called the regional airport of Bordeaux-Merignac in south-west France on Thursday and told authorities, “There is a bomb.”

Police immediately sealed off part of the airport to conduct searches and, unsurprisingly, they weren’t overly thrilled when the call turned out to be a hoax.

The man was arrested 12 miles away from Bordeaux and taken into custody.

Under police questioning, he admitted calling in the bomb alert and explained he wanted to delay his girlfriend’s flight because she was stuck in traffic.

Prosecutors on Sunday explained that the man risks up to two years in prison and a 30,000 Euro (£21,000) fine.

We imagine this lad is regretting his decision now!
