Wolverine 3 will be the last time Hugh Jackman wears the claws of the famous superhero and now he’s revealed why.

Earlier this year, Jackman explained that the next Wolverine movie will be the last time he plays the role, which came as a surprise to some fans since the actor had previously said he would love to play the X-Men character for many years.

Now, however, the 46-year-old has explained his change of heart.

Speaking on U.S talk show The Dr. Oz Show, Jackman said:

This will be my last one. It is my last time. It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.

I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.

The Australian actor has played the role for more than two decades.

The next instalment in the X-Men franchise will be ‘X-Men Apocalypse’, but Jackman is not yet confirmed to be part of the film.

The third Wolverine movie is scheduled to be released in 2017 when the beast will be uncaged for the last time.
