In what was one of the biggest stories of yesterday, it emerged that a KFC customer had unknowingly purchased what was thought to be a ‘deep fried rat’.
Californian man Devorise Dixon claimed that this specific piece of chicken, pulled from his KFC bucket, had a ‘tail’ and was strangely shaped like a rat. Well, he wasn’t wrong with the latter. And it sent the internet into a frenzy. So much so, that KFC were forced to make a statement and investigate.
In a statement, KFC made sure they covered all bases:
This image is from the US and is unrelated to KFC in India. KFC takes customer claims very seriously, and they are investigating this matter. KFC chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and there is no evidence to support this claim.
We have extended the opportunity to have an independent lab evaluate the product at our own expense, but the customer refuses to provide the product in question.
The images the customer originally posted do not include this second angle because it clearly shows it’s a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken. Based on this, and the fact that he refuses to allow anyone to see the product, KFC US is left to believe that he intended to deceive the public with this hoax and are considering all options.
They then shared the magnified version of the ‘rat’ above, to further prove that it was in fact just chicken.
Fair play, they responded quite well. However, I still don’t fancy anything fried for a while. But, I suppose that’s a good thing.
