Social justice organizer, cultural critic, writer and filmmaker, Dream Hampton, has made some pretty strong statements on social media this week.
It was revealed by Complex yesterday when the 44-year-old sent out a series of tweets, speaking openly about Jay Z’s numerous ‘private contributions’ that helped hundreds of protestors in both Ferguson – and more recently – Baltimore, get bail.
The Carter family, according to Dream, not only donated large amounts of money in order to ease the burden of posting bail for said protestors, but their money was also effectively used for other reasons described by Hope as “too much to list”, and in each case asked those who received their money to keep quiet about it.
The news comes in light of many public comments aimed at the rich and famous for turning a blind eye to the issues surrounding both Ferguson and Baltimore – with Jay being one of the main targets. But if Dream’s claims are true, this is certainly not the case.
The tweets have since been erased, as predicted by Complex, but thankfully they were screenshotted:
