This jealous man set fire to his ex’s house with petrol then text her “goodbye”. Cold.
44-year-old Gary Griffiths of Brownhills, Walsall, tried soaking his ex-partner’s house in petrol before setting fire to it and driving off. Fortunately the victim, 44-year-old Tracey Powell survived the callous arson attack.
The couple were only in a relationship for two months before Powell decided to dump him. (Probably because she could tell he was a psychopath).
After sending her a text message saying “goodbye” he sent a second message that said: “The fire starters are going to burn down the street.”
Here he can be seen buying a jerry can, filling it with petrol, entering the house and then setting light to the trail of fuel. He really thought this shit out.
During the trial, Powell said:
He wasn’t that happy and said he was annoyed about the fact that we were not seeing each other.
I was shocked and thought it was a bit aggressive. Literally as I read it I realised something was going on outside.
Instinctively I opened the window and I saw him and saw flames from the footpath below the window. The flames were at the front door.
Griffiths was convicted of attempted murder and arson following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court and jailed for 16 years.
