Security forces in Jordan have executed two ISIS-linked prisoners in retaliation to Islamic State militants executing a Jordanian pilot just hours before.
Jordan vowed a swift and lethal response after the pilot in question was burned alive inside a cage by ISIS, and a swift and lethal response they gave.
The executions of Sajida al-Rishawi and Ziad al-Karbouli took place at 4am after shocking footage emerged showing pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh being burned alive by his captors.
Al-Rishawi had been on death row since 2005 for her role in a triple hotel bombing that killed dozens in Amman, the capital city of Jordan.
Following the execution of the pilot, dubbed as a hero in Jordan, President Obama said it would be more evidence of the group’s ‘viciousness and barbarity’, if it turned out to be genuine.
Because we definitely don’t have enough evidence already.
