Drone vandalism is officially a thing now and no billboard is safe.
On Wednesday, Kendall Jenner became the first official victim of public vandalism made by a drone. Or, rather, the giant Calvin Klein billboard in New York bearing her image did.
The act was carried out by graffiti artist and tagger KATSU.
Speaking to Motherboard last year, KATSU explained why he wanted to attach a spray can to a drone, saying:
I really want to look into the way that a person and a drone could connect. I thought, ‘I could go out into the city and spray paint using a drone wherever I wanted to, in basically unreachable spots and in unusable areas.’
Considering the billboard is at the centre of one of the city’s busiest shopping areas, the makeshift art is pretty unavoidable. I wonder if we’ll be seeing stunts like this in the UK in the future? Maybe if Banksy fancies branching out a bit…
