It’s been a busy couple of weeks for KFC after a story about them allegedly providing a customer with a ‘deep-fried rat’ went super-viral.
Devorise Dixon of California was the man that originally posted the funny shaped piece of chicken and quickly saw his post reach most corners of the world. Even now, it sits on over 130,000 shares on Facebook.
It didn’t take long for KFC to respond, though, and respond they did. It quickly sent the story into another snowball of virality, but they held their own. The only thing they hadn’t managed to do, is actually test the so-called rat in a lab.
Well, according to ABC7, that has finally happened. KFC spokesperson, Rodrigo Coronel said:
Recently, a customer questioned the quality of a KFC product, and this received considerable publicity given the sensational nature of his claim.
The product has now been tested by a third-party independent lab, which confirmed it is definitely a piece of chicken, as we knew all along. The right thing for this customer to do is to apologize and cease making false claims about the KFC brand.Advertisement
So there you have it. Chicken all along. As if we didn’t know, but hey, social media loves a bit of a media circus.
Now all is left is for Dixon to apologise. But we can’t see that happened any time soon…
