Simon Berry is a teenager from Sydney, Australia, and ever since he was 15 his friends have referred to him as King Joffrey from Game Of Thrones.
It’s no surprise, really. He is the spit of the legendary character – and this is what prompted him to starting visiting Comic Con events in full Joff get-up.
“I decided something new was needed,” he said, “so I made a ‘season 4’ wedding costume and cosplayed as the “post-wedding” Joffrey at Sydney in 2014. The decision brought about a number of reactions, including “DIE JOFFREY, DIE!” and “that’s the best Joffrey I’ve ever seen”. Photos of me then went viral. It was fantastic.”
Following those events, Simon decided to retire at the top of his game as a Joff-lookalike, and stopped attending as his alter-ego. Until it was announced that Jack Gleeson – who plays Joffrey in GoT – would be at the 2014 Brisbane Supanova convention. He had to go.
After booking expensive flights and accomodation, he attended as 3 different variations of Joffrey for the convention, and described meeting the actor as a “dream come true”. But that’s not where it ended, as Gleeson asked to meet with Simon after the convention…
The two met up, took pictures, talked, then Simon later received a signed photo of the pair. Not bad! Especially for someone as big a fan as him.
