In a touching gesture, a young boy in the U.S helped feed a homeless man when he convinced his mother to buy the guy a good meal.
5-year-old Josiah Duncan and his mum, Ava Faulk, were at a waffle house in Alabama when the young boy spotted a homeless man outside.
Josiah was so troubled by the man’s appearance, he started asking his mum questions and she explained to him that the man didn’t have a home to go to.
Faulk wrote an email to WSFA 12 News about her son’s actions, and it included many of the questions the young child had; “Where is his house? Where is his family? Where does he keep his groceries?”
Josiah was especially concerned that the man “didn’t have any food” and felt they needed to help. He insisted his mum buy the stranger a proper meal and she was happy to do so.
He came in and sat down, and nobody really waited on him. So Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can’t order without one.
The man initially insisted on a cheap hamburger but was instead told by Duncan and Faulk that he could have anything he wanted – “get as much bacon as you want”.
Before he could take the first bite, Josiah insisted on saying a blessing with the man.
And Josiah did just that, with 11 other customers watching.
Faulk recounted the moment in the email, adding:
‘God our Father, God our Father, we thank you, we thank you, for our many blessings, for our many blessings, Amen, Amen.’
The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried.
You never know who the angel on Earth is, and when the opportunity comes you should never walk away from it. Watching my son touch the 11 people in that Waffle House tonight will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I’ll ever get to witness.
What a great guy! If only more people thought like this lad.
