The ‘Fight of the Century’ between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally went down in the early hours of this morning but, for many viewers, the bout completely failed to live up to the hype.
After 12 rounds, Mayweather won the superfight years in the making via a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards (118-110, 116-112, 116-112) to stay undefeated and take his record to 48-0.
Pacquaio had his moments – most notably, a wicked flurry in the fourth round – but was comprehensively out-boxed on the night. Let’s just say there were a lot of raised eyebrows when Pacquiao claimed afterwards that he felt he won the fight.
Although boxing aficionados will have enjoyed Mayweather’s masterclass in defensive boxing, most viewers were left feeling deflated by the lack of a good scrap after all the build-up.
Social media was awash with comments about how boring the fight was and, let’s face it, after waiting five years for these two to throw down, we can understand a lot of people’s frustration.
Mayweather definitely is the Chelsea of Boxing.Advertisement

Still, I wonder if ‘Money’ Mayweather cares that many viewers were left feeling cheated…
