One man’s trip to watch the solar eclipse turned into a life threatening experience after he was attacked by a polar bear!
Jakub Moravec, a 37 year old from the Czech Republic, had travelled to the Svalbard islands in Norway’s Artic and was jolted out of his sleep upon hearing warnings that a bear had been spotted.
We were sleeping in the tent and when I woke up the polar bear was standing on top of me. It went straight to my head. Luckily my colleague shot it.
While we are glad the man is ok and recovering in hospital after suffering injuries to his face and arm, we actually feel a little bit sorry for the bear – given he was simply having a look around where he lives and all!
