Police are investigating a horrific incident where a man had acid poured on his face after a screening of rap biopic Straight Outta Compton.
The victim and another man, both from Redhill in Surrey, had been watching the film about the rise and fall of U.S. hip hop group NWA at Cineworld, in the Crawley Leisure Park, West Sussex when they were set upon in the car park by two men.
The 27-year-old suffered potentially life-changing injuries in the sickening attack which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning between 01:00 and 01:30.
The attackers were in a dark-coloured Peugeot car and described as white and in their late 20s or early 30s. One had dark short hair and a beard and was wearing a bag across his shoulder. The other was wearing a white or light grey hooded top and jeans.
Detective Sergeant Laura Diamond, of Crawley CID, said:
This was an isolated but nevertheless nasty and unprovoked assault. We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen an altercation either within the cinema or later in the car park outside.
The victim was later transferred to the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, for specialist care.
