That is what Chinese news outlets are reporting happened over there.

Xiao Li had been in a coma for 200 days and was deteriorating rapidly. However, his body was reacting to mild pain stimulus, so one of the nurses had an idea.

She waved a 100 Yuan (£16) note in front of his face, while another member of staff talked to him, telling him that if he wanted the money he would have to grab it. Sounds stupid, right?

Wrong, apparently.

Allegedly, Xiao raised his hand, and after a few minutes managed to grab the money. Madness. It’s not known whether he got to keep the note, but you’d hope so after that.
