Manny Pacquiao underwent surgery on his right shoulder yesterday (Wednesday) in LA and his doctor has said “could not be more pleased” with the results.
The eight-division world champion who recently lost the biggest fight of his career to Floyd Mayweather on points reportedly entered the fight after being refused painkiller injections by Las Vegas doctors.
He’d been suffering with the injury for just over a month after an april 4 sparring session. His doctor, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, says he will be sidelined for up to six months but will make a full recovery and return to the ring.
Following his defeat to Mayweather, Pacquiao recently spoke about how he started to feel “needle-like pains” in his shoulder during the fourth round of the fight.
There have been reports of a possible rematch at some point next year between the two, as it seems neither of them were at their best, but with the money generated this time around and the disappointment fans have had to endure, we’re not sure that’s a great idea.
