McDonald’s iconic quarter pounder is reportedly set to get an upgrade in size, potentially as soon as next month.
CNBC reports that the famous fast food chain will unveil a new quarter pounder which weighs 4.25 ounces ahead of being cooked, as opposed to the prior 4oz (ie. a quarter of a pound).
The updated burger will also have a new shape.
In a statement, McDonald’s said:
As (CEO) Steve Easterbrook has shared, we’re always innovating around McDonald’s food, drinks and restaurant experience based on customers’ preferences, and that includes hotter food and reviewing cooking procedures, and we’ll share more details soon.
The company believes the move “improves the taste, texture and appearance of the burgers” because the “patties retain more moisture resulting in a juicier and more flavourful burger”.
While we’re loving this news, it does beg the serious question of whether we can even officially call it a “quarter pounder” anymore…
