A woman who was close to 400lbs (28st) has dropped an unbelievable amount of weight after taking up boxing.
Inspirational 27-year-old Desiree Richards shed 200lbs (14st) by hitting the speed bag and getting her diet under control.
Richards, from Arlington, Texas, knew she had to make a drastic lifestyle change after she started experiencing heart problems. So she joined her local boxing gym and dropped the excess weight in just 18 months.
Speaking to Pop Sugar about her incredible weight loss, Richards said:
I have been taking boxing classes at TITLE Boxing Club in Arlington, TX. Boxing has influenced my life in more ways than one. It has been a large tool in my weight loss, a stress reliever, and a confidence booster. I encourage other people to find a form of exercise that is enjoyable for them. And when you find it, stick with it.
I started out about four times a week at TITLE, and at first, I was barely able to finish a class. Now I work out six days a week: four times at TITLE and two weight resistance workouts. I also have started using a weighted vest and weighted gloves. I am always looking for ways to improve and become better than I was yesterday.
But shedding the 210lbs is about more than just losing weight for Desiree, it’s about being more confident and able to do things that she was unable to when she was 388lbs, like ride a roller coaster or sit in a theatre seat comfortably.
The life of someone severely overweight is hard physically, mentally, and emotionally. All of that changed as I lost weight.
