When Caroline Playle’s seven year old son began to have a temper tantrum in TK Maxx, she decided just to let him calm down and wait for the storm to pass, so kept Seb in view, but gave him his own space.
Now while a kid having a paddy in a shopping centre is pretty normal, Caroline’s situation was worse because Seb suffers from Down Syndrome, and as she prepared to wait the tantrum out, something amazing happened.
Shop assistant Ashley Rogers went to sit down next to the young lad and asked him if he was ok, talking to him until Seb was calm enough to return to his mother – and Caroline was seriously touched by the male employee’s gesture.
She claimed it made a ‘huge difference’ and that she ‘cannot express what the young man’s actions meant’.
So impressed was Caroline, that she posted a thank you note on Facebook, and the post has now been shared nearly 30,000 times, with the general public praising the TK Maxx employee – and lamenting the fact that this does not happen more often, not just in shops but in general.
