Possibly the most anticipated hip-hop biopic in history is set for release this August and the promo train is really starting to take off now.
Straight Outta Compton will tell the tale of the one of the most prolific groups in rap and hip-hop history, N.W.A, and with cinemas around the world opening their doors to it in just a couple of months, it has been revealed that all surviving members of the group including Ice Cube, (hopefully) Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella will take the stage to perform in concert for the first time in 26 years.
The upcoming LA show was outlined by Ice Cube in a recent interview with Rolling Stone with the 2015 BET Experience on June 27 being the location.
Speaking about the show, Cube said:
The last time I performed with Yella was 1989. That was a long time, but with Ren, it was the Up in Smoke Tour [in 2000]. It was real cool to be onstage with him again, but that’s still been 15 years ago.
So it’s real cool to get up there and with the excitement around Straight Outta Compton, the movie. I think people are going to just be extra excited to get a glimpse of us.
Cube wouldn’t reveal too much regarding Dre’s appearance, but since they have been promoting it together, it would be hard to imagine the Dre Beats’ billionaire not being there.
And if that isn’t enough, it’s likely that Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q will be appearing too. We also expect The Game to rear his head.
However, the one thing on everyone’s mind? An Eazy-E hologram. Make it happen, guys.
