NASA launched its next-gen spacecraft yesterday, the Orion, to test if it would be suitable to send astronauts deeper into space.
The Orion was launched without anybody on board but according to the video description it did have “nearly 1,200 sensors to measure every aspect of the mission. That will allow NASA to assess whether the journey would have been suitable for astronauts.”
The description also said: “Orion is NASA’s next-generation spacecraft, and its goal is to take humans deeper into space than ever before with the ultimate goal of a mission to Mars in the 2030s.
“To achieve that, Orion needs to be able to reach very high speeds and withstand extreme temperatures and radiation levels.”
This is said to be a huge development in space exploration.
