Brazilian legend Pele has made it very clear that he feels his legacy as the country’s best ever player – if not the best player ever to grace a football pitch – is safe and secure, despite the rise of Neymar.
Brazil’s new golden boy is loved by pretty much everyone in the country and despite their hopes of a home World Cup win fading with Neymar’s fitness, the Barcelona forward is still adored in his home country – by everyone bar Pele it seems.
The footballing icon claimed:
I think to be the new king, the new Pele, is impossible.
He did however say Neymar would be a ‘big star.’
Despite Pele’s comments, Neymar is still shining on both the domestic and international stage and after his performance against France in Brazil’s seventh win in a row – in which Neymar has netted eight goals – he will probably sleep fairly well at night.
