After inviting 16 kids from his class to his birthday party, Glenn Buratti was devastated when not even 1 of them turned up.
The 6-year-old autistic boy was heartbroken when not a single one of his friends turned up to his party, and his mum, Ashlee, said the look he gave her when he found out ‘killed her inside’.
Equally as destroyed by the situation, Ashlee took to Facebook to rant.
I know this might be something silly to rant about, but my heart is breaking for my son.
We invited his whole class (16 kids) over for his 6th birthday party today. Not one kid came.
However, what happened shortly after her rant took her by surprise.
Locals from Osceola, Florida, filled her inbox with responses, many asking if they could head over to wish Glenn a happy birthday and even give him gifts. And within a few hours, 15 children and 25 adults had already turned up.
One woman even brought him a brand new bike.
But that’s not all. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office sent their helicopter directly over the party, while officers gathered together funds to buy the little lad some gifts.
And if that wasn’t enough, the town’s fire department dropped by a few days later in their truck to wish Glenn a belated happy birthday and let him hop on board.
Speaking to WKMG, Mrs Buratti said:
The amazingness of everybody coming together for someone that they didn’t even know, a kid that didn’t have anybody come to his birthday party – it warmed my heart.
People power is awesome.
