The American Supreme Court have taken the decision to save Obamacare, handing a massive victory to the Democrats and disappointing those Republicans who opposed the act.

The divisive Affordable Care Act authorized federal tax credits for eligible Americans living not only in states with their own exchanges but also in the 34 states with federal marketplaces, and now the act is set to stay in place, it has now been claimed that the ruling will define President Obama’s terms in office for years to come.

That means that health insurance for millions of Americans will be preserved, with the 6-3 decision being hailed as a major victory for the White House.

Chief Justice John Roberts claimed:

Congress passed the Affordable Care Act to improve health insurance markets, not to destroy them.

If at all possible, we must interpret the Act in a way that is consistent with the former, and avoids the latter.

There are of course still those who massively oppose Obamacare, but the President remains defiant, claiming from the White House that ‘affordable healthcare is here to stay’.
