According to one teacher, sex needs a new metaphor, and he thinks he has found it in pizza.

Al Vernacchio claims that the way we approach intimacy as a society is centred around the euphemisms we use for sex, and in his TED Talk, ‘Sex Needs A New Metaphor’, he highlights how many sports metaphors, and specifically baseball ones, are used to talk about sex.

According to the teacher, this then creates an image that is unhealthy, not to mention homophobic and heterosexist.

He thinks that if we replace the terms used with ones about pizza, everyone will have a happier life, and have an open mind when it comes to sex, because first base, second base and third base are just wrong when you could be saying margarita pizza or meat feast instead.
