Loads of people get tattoos these days, and quite often there is a reason behind them. This is one of the better reasons I’ve heard.

Honey-Rae Phillips is an 18-month-old girl with a birthmark that has grown on her and covers most of the right side of her body. They’re so bad that her mum Tanya used to cover her legs up in public so that people wouldn’t stare.

However after taking her out in shorts for the first time, and hearing some old people talking about their daughter’s mark, both her parents realised that life would be a lot easier for her if she wasn’t the only one that looked a bit different. So they decided to get tattoos replicating the birthmark.

It was incredibly painful, especially as I had a flower to cover some old star tattoos, but it was worth every second of the pain.

When the swelling went down, I showed Honey-Rae, and she gently touched it and smiled as she said ‘Match,’ pointing to her own leg.

It is quite an extreme to go to, but Tanya says that it’s worth it to make her daughter feel better about herself.

It’s difficult to disagree.
