A grey wolf pack has been spotted in North California, making them the first pack to settle in California for 100 years.

There are seven wolves, two adult black-furred gray wolves and five 4-month-old pups.

They’ve been named the Shasta pack, after the mountains near by, and have managed to establish themselves in the area only 21 years after the wolves were re-introduced in the Northern Rockies.

California’s last known native wolf was killed in 1924 in neighbouring Lassen County, making it all the more amazing that a pack have been spotted.
