Passengers on Airbus A321 had a bit of a shock just after taking off from Beirut international airport on a flight to Frankfurt after seeing the plane hit a flock of birds, some of whom even got caught in the engine and caused the plane to lose power in one of said engines – meaning an emergency landing had to be performed.
The 144 passengers on board were not harmed although they did come face to face with the plane shooting out flames from one of its engines – and that must have been pretty terrifying for all involved.
A Lufthansa spokesperson spoke to the Daily Mail and claimed that everything was fine, downplaying the incident by claiming:
The aircraft landed safe and all passengers left the aircraft over the normal stairs.
All passengers have been offered hotel accommodation and were rebooked on other airlines and on our scheduled daily services.
Sadly for the birds, they won’t be getting any free accommodation or a chance to fly again after that.
