This sandwich-chain boss has revealed he hopes to make the company as big as McDonald’s.

Clive Schlee states how he wanted to keep customers loyal to ever-expanding business, Pret A Manger, and he knew free stuff is what the customers wants. Who doesn’t know that?

He stated:

We looked at loyalty cards, but we didn’t want to spend all that money building up some complicated Clubcard-style analysis. Instead the staff have to give away a certain number of hot drinks and food every week.

They will decide ‘I like the person on the bicycle’ or ‘I like the guy in that tie’ or ‘I fancy that girl or that boy’. It means 28 per cent of people have had something free. It’s a nice, different way of doing it.

He plans to expand the company so it’s as big as rivals Starbucks and McDonald’s and he’s extremely determined. The popular shop now has 288 outlets in the UK with 160 in London. It has 374 in total worldwide.

On a side note, I’ve been wondering why I keep getting free coffees.
