HMP Northumberland can boast some very creative inmates indeed. In fact, so crafty are the inmates that they have been using Kinder Eggs to smuggle in drugs.
The toys inside of the popular chocolate egg are taken out and replaced with drugs – and then thrown over the fence of the jail for the inmates to pick up as they are small enough to fit through the holes in the fence – originally designed to stop the same thing happening with tennis balls.
One source claimed:
You have to hand it to the prisoners. Their ingenuity knows no limits.
The problem is that inmates have 24 hours a day, every day, to think of new ways to beat the system. Every now and again they manage to do it.
But any of them hoping for a Kinder egg drug-fuelled Easter is now out of luck.
The inmates will now have to think of another way to get their fix as new netting has been installed at the prison, and we would suggest a crème egg given they are smaller still!
