Radamel Falcao has been hailed a hero in his home country of Colombia after helping to save the life of a young dying fan.
The Manchester United striker was approached three months ago by Helena Fernandez, mother of a 17-year-old boy with a rare blood type desperately in need of a new heart.
John Uyaban and his family had been searching for a heart donor for two years to no avail and was recently given just months to live.
However when contacted, Falcao promised John he would find him a new heart.
Speaking to Colombian media, Helena said:
Falcao said immediately he’d set to the task of finding a heart. We don’t know how he did it, or who brought the heart, but he did it.
The young lad had a successful operation this week, and thanks to the work of some brilliant doctors, is set to leave hospital in February.
