Richard Branson is notorious for being generous to his employees at Virgin and he has just taken it to new heights.
The multi-billionaire CEO of Virgin Group this week announced an incredible new job perk for employees of his beloved company: New parents (fathers included) can take a year off and bring up their newborn while receiving their full salary.
It’s no secret that maternity leave can be a challenge for some, especially fathers who often have to stay in work to provide for their family and put food on the table.
But Richard Branson wants to change that, and announced the new policy saying:
If you take care of your employees they will take care of your business. As a father and now a granddad to three wonderful grandchildren, I know how magical the first year of a child’s life is but also how much hard work it takes.
I’m delighted that we can offer this support to our staff so that they can enjoy parental leave to the full as we continue to our work in changing business for good.
The perk is available to all employees of Virgin, however, those who have been an employee for four years or more will get the full 100% pay compensation. Anyone who has been with the company less than four years will see a smaller percentage – but nevertheless, they will still be paid.
The CEO adopts the policy of ‘treat your employees well and they’ll treat the company well in return’, in turn making everyone more productive and less likely to jump ship.
We can’t knock him for this.
